It is the applicant's responsibility to confirm that they meet the minimum requirements as application fees will not be refunded. Applicants may apply online or via a paper application. Credit/debit card payments are accepted with online applications (a logon button will appear next to the exams we are accepting applications for online) and are subject to a $3.99 convenience fee. All checks and money orders must be made payable to COMMISSIONER OF FINANCE. WE DO NOT ACCEPT CASH.
Applications faxed or emailed to this office for examinations will not be accepted.

NOTE FOR CANDIDATES WHO TOOK THE SEPTEMBER 2025 POLICE OFFICER/DEPUTY SHERIFF EXAM (Exam No. 60039550)
The eligible list for Exam No. 60039550 was established on February 13, 2026. Physical agility testing is scheduled for the week of July 20, 2026.
Letters inviting eligible candidates to participate in the physical agility test were mailed on May 15, 2026. If you believe you are eligible and did not receive your letter, please contact civilserviceexams@orangecountygov.com.
The eligible list will remain in effect for a minimum of one (1) year and may remain active beyond that time.
The eligible list from the September 2025 exam (Exam No. 60039550) will continue to be used for certifications before the results of the next Police Officer/Deputy Sheriff exam (Exam No. 60065950), which is scheduled for October 17, 2026 (and, if necessary, October 18, 2026).
If your name appears on Eligible List 60039550 and you wish to remain eligible for appointments after that list expires and a new eligible list is established, you must apply for and take the new Police Officer/Deputy Sheriff exam (Exam No. 60065950) on October 17, 2026. The last filing date for the October 17, 2026, exam is August 28, 2026.
Candidates who wish to remain eligible for future appointment opportunities are encouraged to apply for and take each examination when it is offered.

A Qualified Incumbent Exam (QIE) is limited to individuals who are currently employed by an Orange County department or municipality, and who have continuously served in a HELP position for a minimum of six (6) months. Candidates should only apply if they meet the qualification requirements.
Applicants must submit both an application and the QIE questionnaire simultaneously via the online process (upload the QIE questionnaire) or to the Orange County Department of Human Resources at:
